The Tiree Rover (to the Tune of The Wild Rover)
(McKenzie/Kerr/Duffis/Menzies)
We went to Tiree, for September weekend
The pipes, drums and groupies - a big group of friends
We marched off the ferry to rapturous applause
It was hell of a windy, but we're here for a cause
(Chorus)
We're the folks from Strathaven
Not a Mickey Mouse band
That's the Calmac Ferry
From Oban, disnae land
We went to a Ceilidh on Friday at night
And on Saturday morning, were all feeling…..rough
We went for a walk were impressed by the surf
Then we took out some bikes and boy it was tough
(Chorus)
With Dominic and Eilidh the drumming was swell
And Ollie and Daibhidh were piping as well
With Dusty on small pipes and Lorna on fiddle
To entertain Tiree, we've just solved the riddle
(Chorus)
Angus and Duncan played accordion with glee
We're all so glad that we came to Tiree
We all did a turn and we drank lots of beer
And Laura she got up and sang, Do-a-deer
(Chorus)
Alt. ending (last verse)
Angus and Duncan played accordion with glee
We're all so glad that we came to Tiree
We all did a turn and we drank lots of beer
And Laura she got up and sang, Do-a-deer….
Do-a-deer - a female deer
Ray - a drop of golden sun
Me - a name, I call myself…
etc.
